When Young got back to Alaska she lived in her van for a few months before moving into the dry cabin. The cabin Young was being offered was a dry one — a residential structure without running water. The dry cabin is about 10 feet by 20 feet and has one room with a kitchen area and a bedroom nook. The dry cabin didn't have running water, so Young would shower in the neighbor's house a few times a week. AnnMarie Young

Google's Asia Pacific vice president said its most successful employees have a "growth mindset." She explained that among Google's most successful staff "a growth mindset is a common characteristic … It's one of the biggest drivers of good performance and results." Part of having a growth mindset is viewing "your career not as a ladder to climb, but a jungle gym," which means being focused not just on moving up but across different areas to broaden your skillsets, Chadha said. This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Jeff Sipe, a private tech career coach and former Google recruiter. Big Tech layoffs were always going to receive backlash — that said, I don't think any of them have been handled perfectly, and many of them could have been avoided. Yes, companies needed to cut down on costs, but more than that, I think layoffs have become trendy. After layoffs, the company's stock price usually goes up, and the board of directors and shareholders (most of whom don't work there) are happy. Anyone can create one for free, using Canva for example, that says, "Impacted by Google Layoffs."
WASHINGTON — A Navy SEAL candidate who died hours after he completed the grueling stretch of training known as Hell Week succumbed to acute pneumonia and cardiac arrest, according to a military investigation obtained by NBC News. When he died on Feb. 4, Mullen had just completed the fourth week of Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training, commonly known as Hell Week. By the time he successfully completed Hell Week, Mullen had gained 22 pounds from swelling and fluid retention, and he had to return to the barracks in a wheelchair. Just two months after Mullen died, a candidate tested positive for PEDs and was removed from training, according to the Navy. After Mullen died, Naval Special Warfare also began advanced cardiology screening for all candidates.
